Beauty Review: eos Lip Balm

So the other day this adorable lip balm came in the mail. Isn't the packaging so cute? It's from eos and the best part is it's 95% organic and has vitamin E to help keep your lips soft and moist. This one has a yummy watermelon taste and smell. You simply pucker up and apply.  It goes for about $3 at most drug stores. My co-worker actually came in to work the other day and told me she bought the cutest lip balm and coincidentally enough pulled out of her bag this same eos lip balm--ha. Have you tried it yet?

Trend to Try: Colorful Purses!

Fall is coming fast, and this year you can see the sunshine on the horizon. Mod color blocking and bold pattern play are going to be BIG, leaving those dreary greys for another day. Thus, our newest trend to try: Brightly Colored Purses!

Louis Vuitton was rocking the high saturated handbags for their Spring 2011 looks and with the re-emegrence of high-spirited color, it may be time to get one of these juicy new purses and give it a squeeze!

Fashion: Doing What I do

Fashionista Crush: Gold Sequin Mini

Sequins are a sure-fire hit when it comes to adding a touch of glamour especially for a special night out. It’s usually best to allow the sequin mini to be the main focus of the outfit. Any pairing item with huge amounts of sparkle or bold, intense pattern can easily come across as just too much. The key to daytime sequins is moderation. You can easily bring a super fancy sequin skirt back into the reality of day-to-day wear by keeping all other items basic and plain and in day-appropriate fabrics, like cotton. Use sequins as a fun way to express your inner glamour doll.

Beauty Trend: Word Nails

If you are bored with your traditional solid-colored nails, then try this trend on for size! These "word nails" are like decopauge for your nails and they are amazingly cute. The best part is you can choose any newspaper wording you want, from the text of the business section to comic strips. This is a great way to re-define the tradtional newspaper: by placing it on your nails!
What you will need:
*Scissors
*Newspaper
*Light Colored Polish
*Base Coat
*Top Coat
*Rubbing Alcohol or Vodka
*Small Ceramic Dish

1. Find a section in a newspaper that you want to copy onto your nails and cut it out. I say newspapers because their ink is easily transferrable onto a painted surface. Make sure you cut the pieces to cover each of your nails. I would like to suggest using the crossword puzzle, advertisements, or comic strips for some awesome shapes.

2. Varnish your nails by applying a base coat followed by two coats of a nail color of your choice. I suggest using a lighter color, such as pastels, so that your print is visible.

3. Pour rubbing alcohol, or vodka, into a small dish. Once your nails are dry, briefly soak them in alcohol. I suggest vodka as an alternative because this liquid tends to not be as harsh on your polish.

4. Cover your nails with the ten small pieces of paper you cut out earlier. Press down firmly and hold it still for about thirty seconds. Remove the small pieces of paper slowly, so that all of the print is transferred onto your nail.

5. Let your nails dry and apply a top coat to finish them off. I would like to suggest a clear polish with sparkles, just to add a little shimmer into the mix!

Rihanna

Rihanna brought the Caribbean heat to the French Riviera yesterday (22 August) in a stunning exotic multi-green python monokini and a relaxed oversized Bob Marley t-shirt. We’re clearly loving her beach style as evidenced here when Rihanna wore an unforgettable Mikoh two-piece just two weeks ago.

Inspired By … Celebrity Closets

Now I LOVE clothes (and shoes, and accessories, and bags) and I’ve always been the type of person who likes to see everything that I have. If I don’t see all of the stuff that I have, then I will eventually forget that I have it. Plus. I think that great clothes are beautiful and shouldn’t be hidden away.
With that being said, I have been really inspired by celebrity closets and bitchin’ stylists studios. It something that keeps passing through my thoughts as well … maybe I should create a great space for myself like this.
Here are some pics that inspiring to me:

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

So worth it. The exhibit was absolutely breathtaking. Alexander McQueen was a genius! Seeing the clothing online and the ready-to-wear at the store doesn’t do him justice. Some of the pieces in the exhibit were insane. Like, bringing a tear to my eye insane. And you know I had to keep it real at the gift shop afterwards. I got the book (amazing), postcards, magnets, the calendar, and the most fabulous shoe ornament ever!!
I (well, not really) managed to snap a few pictures before being busted by museum security. Here are a few of my favorites.

Lauryn Hill needs a Stylist

I mean, yes, she just gave birth a few weeks ago. And yes physically she looks good.
But, when Lauryn Hill hit the stage at the LA Rising Festival this past weekend, in a white bra, floral print skirt (pulled up to the bra) and knee high WHITE cut out boots, my life ended. Life as a shorty shouldn’t be so rough.
I thought to myself if ever I needed a physical description of Depression, This is it!
